Therefore, it is very essential for travel consultants to be fully familiar with the subject if they have to provide excellent service to their customers. IATA & VIASINC (Vocational Instruction & Software, Incorporated) have come together to create this new course for the travel training industry with the aim of creating better qualified students who would have a competitive edge in the job market.
The IATA GDS (Global Distribution System) Fares & Ticketing is a Computer-based Training system developed by IATA and VIASINC. The course is designed for students to make a career in travel agencies and for industry professionals who are already familiar with a GDS and want to enhance their knowledge about Fares & Ticketing. The main objective of this course is to teach the students to compute international mileage-based fares and issue tickets using a GDS system. The students will learn GDS entries related to mileage system pricing and ticketing and understand the principles of constructing international air fares applying IATA Fare Construction rules.

- Basic & advanced mileage concepts
- IATA Fare Formula
- Fare construction for one way, round and circle trip journeys
- Fare construction for mixed class journeys, open jaws lowest combination & Round the World
- Limitations on indirect travel, side trips & surface sectors
- Related fare checks
- Ticket issuance
Students can decide between Amadeus, Galileo & Sabre.
